Hey!! What's Up Dunn County?
We are ALL Winners🙂 - Time to Be a Watchdog🧐 - Which is it?!? Winter or Spring❄🌷
Well, the spring elections in Dunn County is over. The Board of Canvassers met this past Monday to finalize the results in which I was an observer. It truly was a learning experience, the whole election process from beginning to end. Campaigning for office, having the opportunity to meet many wonderful neighbors in District 21, being a poll worker in Ward 6 and learning something new along the way. This particular spring election cycle we experienced the most registered write-in’s for many local offices which was pretty exciting. It also was a challenge for the poll workers, the mysterious tabulators and for the Board of Canvassers. We learned if you do not fill in the bubble next to the write in candidate’s name, the tabulator will not recognize it and will not be counted in the tally totals. This required going through all the original ballots to ensure all write-in candidates are accounted for which I think is a really good thing. It's my hope in the near future we can hand count all ballots to reconcile with the tabulators to ensure the tabulators are tallying and reading the ballots accurately.
With that we need to celebrate ALL our local candidates who ran for office in striving to make a positive difference in our communities. Congratulations to those who will be taking their oath of office next week Tuesday, April 19th to uphold and defend our U.S. and State Constitutions and to work diligently for the constituents of their assigned districts, townships and wards. And for those who lost their seat of office or lost for the first time, it's the start of a new beginning for better and bigger things to come. This is a great time to get more involved in the community through projects and participating in different non-profit organizations. Make recommendations to bring to the county, townships or city table. And start preparing for the next election cycle, taking what worked and did not work in this last election cycle to heart. Remember, everything we do in life is a learning experience. Embrace it and create an incredible future with it. We are ALL winners!!🥳
So what is a great way to keep our local officials accountable and on task? Becoming a part of a watchdog group! Even if you are not an actual local official in the trenches, you can still feel like a warrior in the trenches by being a watchdog to ensure they are keeping their oath of office and to help them stay on task to the most pressing issues we are dealing with whether at the county level, city level, township level or school district level. All of them are extremely important to our neighbors, friends and families throughout Dunn County. If we want to enjoy the fruits our labors and continue to create an atmosphere of being a great place to live, work and play along with a place to raise a family, we need to be more involved and aware of what's taking place in our local municipalities, cities, schools and county. And you are probably thinking, where can I find a watchdog group in my area? Well, you will be happy to know that there is an organization out there called, “Dunn County Patriots” which is in the process of building and expanding watchdog groups throughout the County. So if you are interested in becoming a watchdog warrior whatever your niche and passion for is, there is a place for you to feel fully engaged and create a sense of purpose for the betterment of your community as a whole. Dunn County Patriots next meeting will take place on April 28th, 2022 at Kyote's Den, E2339 on Wisconsin 29 west of Menomonie, Wisconsin. Meet and Greet starts at 6 pm and the meeting starts at 6:30 pm. Dunn County Patriots meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday each month. If that date and time does not work with your schedule, you can email DunnCoPatriots@protonmail.com for more information about participating in a watchdog group in your community within Dunn County. Believe me, there is something for everybody to feel part of the community. And if you do not live in Dunn County, you can still join a watchdog group for Wisconsin Federal Representatives and Senators and/or Wisconsin State Assembly and Senate Representatives. We need to be reminded that “We The People” are the government. Let's reclaim our self-governance by being a watchdog warrior to keep our elected officials at all levels accountable.
OK! Mother Nature, which is it? Spring or Winter?!? Last week was a week of the switcheroo from snow to rain to sleet and back to snow again! And last night we experienced hail with those thunderstorms that shot through in the course of the night and wee wee hours. If your a lifetime Wisconsinite like myself, it's common place to experience both worlds of winter and spring in the month of April. At the same time, it can be quite annoying switching from spring to winter attire on the same day! I admit, I do like variety, BUT it can be a bit much when going back and forth like a tennis match. And if your like most of the neighbors of Dunn County, we are itching for a full bloom of a permanent stay of Spring🌞 Especially with Easter right around the corner. So Mother Nature, let's hop to it and let Spring commence!
From one Dunn County neighbor to another - Happy Adventures 😎 And Happy Easter🐣
